Look for plump fruit, with no bruises or shriveled skin. Slightly press the fruit – ripe kiwifruit will yield slightly. Avoid fruit that is too firm or too mushy. Smell it – ripe kiwifruit has a mild aroma.
Unripe kiwifruit can be ripened in a paper bag at room temperature in 3 to 7 days. Ripe kiwifruit should be eaten immediately.
