  1. Prepare a large stock pot, place ribs in it, and cover them with water. Bring to a boil and cook for about 1 hour over a medium-high heat.
  2. Heat the oven to 350° F/175° C/Gas Mark 4.
  3. Combine all the remaining ingredients (from ketchup to garlic) in a medium-sized saucepan and blend well. Cook for about 20 minutes over a medium heat.
  4.  Cut the ribs between the bones and put them in a baking dish. Cover with the sauce, cover with a lid, and cook for half an hour more.
