DIRECTIONS
  1. Dissolve white sugar in warm water in a bowl. Add yeast. Stir. Let it proof until it resembles a foam. Add salt and oil. Mix well. One cup at a time, mix in bread flour. 
  2. Prepare a surface by lightly flouring it. Knead the dough until smooth.
  3. Prepare a bowl by oiling it and place the dough in it. Turn it to coat. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rise until doubled in bulk (1 h). 
  4. Punch the dough down, knead for several min and divide in half. Prepare two loaf pans by oiling them. Shape the dough into loaves and place them into the prepared pans. Let them rise for half an hour. Bake at 350° F (175° C) for half an hour. Serve and enjoy your Amish Bread!
