INGREDIENTS
Servings: 12
Raisins
1 cup, coarsely chopped
All-purpose flour
1 ½ cups
Cinnamon
1 tsp., ground
Ground cloves
½ tsp.
Salt
1 tsp.
Butter
½ cups, softened
White sugar
1 cup
Baking soda
1 tsp.
Applesauce
1 cup, unsweetened
DIRECTIONS
  1. Heat the oven to 350° F/175° C/Gas Mark 4.
  2. Prepare a 9-inch square pan, grease and flour it.
  3. Mix raisins and flour in a medium-sized bowl, add cinnamon and cloves, and set aside.
  4. Combine butter and sugar in a large bowl and beat up until light and fluffy.
  5. Mix baking soda and applesauce, add this mixture to the creamed butter, and stir well.
  6. Add the flour mixture to the applesauce mixture and mix until smooth.
  7. Pour the batter into the pan and bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
