INGREDIENTS

Active dry yeast
2 1/4 tsps
Water (110° F/45° C)
1 1/2 cups
White sugar
1/2 cup
Salt
1 tsp
Shortening
1/4 cup
Vegetable oil for frying
1 quart
Confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup
Eggs
2
Vanilla
1 tbsp
Evaporated milk
1 cup
All-purpose flour
7 cups
DIRECTIONS
- Dissolve yeast in water in a large bowl. Add sugar, salt, eggs, vanilla, evaporated milk, and mix. Add 4 cups flour and beat until the mixture is smooth.
- Add shortening and 3 cups of flour. Chill for 24 hours, covered.
- Roll out 1/8 inch thick dough and cut it into 2 1/2 inch squares. Fry in 360° F (180° C) oil.
- Use paper towels to drain.
