DIRECTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 350° F (175° C/Gas mark 4).
- In a bowl, cream together softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is smooth. Gradually beat in eggs (one egg at a time). Add vanilla extract and stir.
- Dissolve baking soda in hot water and add it to the batter. Add salt. Stir in all-purpose flour, chips, and walnuts. Drop the batter by spoonfuls onto pans.
