INGREDIENTS

Blackberries
4 cups, fresh
White sugar
½ cup
All-purpose flour
½ cup
1 recipe pastry for a 9-inch double crust pie
Milk
2 tbsp.
White sugar
¼ cup
DIRECTIONS
  1. While preheating oven to 425° F/220° C/ Gas Mark 7, combine 3 ½ cups berries with sugar and flour. Put the mixture into an unbaked pie shell. Spread the rest of the berries on top and cover with the top crust. Seal and crimp the edges of the crust. Cut vents in the top crust to let steam escape.
  2. Brush the top crust with milk and sprinkle with ¼ cup sugar.
  3. Bake the pie in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Reduce the temperature to 375° F/190° C/ Gas Mark 5 and continue baking for another 20 to 25 minutes. When the filling is bubbly and the crust gets golden brown, remove the pie from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack.
