This scone recipe is probably the most basic one, so don’t be afraid to change it by adding dried fruit, grated cheese, or even chocolate.
INGREDIENTS

All-purpose flour
3 cups
Baking powder
2 tbsp.
Salt
¼ tsp.
Butter
1/3 cup
Buttermilk
1 ¼ cups
DIRECTIONS
- Heat the oven to 425° F/220° C/ Gas Mark 7.
- Prepare a large mixing bowl and add flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir well.
- Add the remaining ingredients and keep stirring until you form a soft dough.
- Put the dough on a slightly floured surface. Press it into a rectangle about ¾ inch thick and 4 inches wide.
- Cut the dough into 8 pieces, evenly sized.
- Grease a baking sheet evenly, put the scones on it, and bake for about 10 to 15 minutes, or until the scones become golden brown.
