2 tbsps
Baking powder
2 tsps
Salt
1 tsp
Baking soda
1/4 tsp
Unsalted butter
7 tbsps, chilled in freezer and cut into thin slices
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat oven to 425° F (220° C). Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, whisk all-purpose flour, salt, baking powder, and baking soda. Cut butter into the mixture until it looks like coarse crumbs. Make a well in the center. Pour in 3/4 cup buttermilk. Stir to combine.
- Prepare a work surface by flouring it. Turn the dough onto the surface. Pat the dough together into a rectangle and fold in thirds. Turn the dough a half turn and gather crumbs. Make a rectangle again. Repeat twice.
- Roll the dough on the prepared work surface (1/2 inch thick). Cut out 12 biscuits.
- Transfer to the baking sheet. With your thumb, press the tops of each biscuit and brush the tops with about 2 tbsps buttermilk.
