- Prepare baking soda solution by adding it to the boiling water. Then soak dates for 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 300 °F/150 °C.
- Blend butter and sugar, and then add eggs, vanilla, dates, nuts, flour, and salt.
- Grease two 9 x 5 (or 8 ½ x 4 ½) loaf pans. Divide batter into the pans and bake for 1 hour.
