Feel that fantastic smell of oven-fresh apple cookies!
INGREDIENTS

Shortening
1/2 cup
Packed brown sugar
1 1/3 cups
Baking soda
1 tsp
Salt
1/2 tsp
Ground cinnamon
1 tsp
Ground cloves
1/2 tsp
Ground nutmeg
1/4 tsp
Walnuts
1 cup, chopped
Butter
1 tbsp
Vanilla extract
1/2 tsp
Half-and-half cream
2 1/2 tbsps
Apples
1 cup, peeled, cored, and finely diced
Raisins
1 cup
Milk
1/4 cup
Confectioners' sugar
1 1/2 cups
Egg
1
All-purpose flour
2 cups
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 400° F (200° C/Gas mark 6).
- In a bowl, combine shortening and brown sugar. Beat until light and fluffy. Beat in egg.
- In a separate bowl, stir together all-purpose flour, baking soda, salt, ground cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg.
- Stir half the flour mixture into the shortening mixture. Add walnuts, apple, and raisins. Stir well. Stir in the other half of the flour mixture. Add milk. Mix well.
- Prepare a baking sheet by greasing it.
- Drop on the baking sheet by tablespoonfuls. Bake for 10 minutes.
- Glaze: Combine powdered sugar, vanilla extract, butter, and half-and-half cream. Beat the mixture until smooth. Transfer the Apple Cookies to racks and spread with glaze.
