Shish Tawook (or Shish Taouk), a traditional Lebanese dish, is marinated in yogurt, lemon, and garlic, and so easy to prepare!
INGREDIENTS
Servings: 6
Skinless, boneless chicken breast halves
2 lbs, cut into 2-inch pieces
Onions
2, cut into large chunks
Green bell pepper
1, cut into large chunks
Fresh flat-leaf parsley
1 cup, chopped
Lemon juice
1/4 cup
Vegetable oil
1/4 cup
Plain yogurt
3/4 cup
Garlic, minced
4 cloves
Tomato paste
2 tsps
Salt
1 1/2 tsp
Ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp
Ground cardamom
1/8 tsp
Dried oregano
1 tsp
Ground black pepper
1/4 tsp
Ground allspice
1/4 tsp
DIRECTIONS
- In a large bowl, mix lemon juice, vegetable oil, yogurt, minced garlic, pepper, allspice, cinnamon, tomato paste, salt, oregano, and cardamom.
- Add chicken breast halves. Toss to coat. Place in a plastic bag and refrigerate for 4 hours or more.
- Preheat grill for medium-high heat. Oil grate.
- Thread chicken breast halves, onions, and pepper onto skewers. Cook for 5 min each side (until the chicken is golden). Sprinkle with parsley. Serve. Enjoy your Shish Tawook Chicken!
