Carnitas simmered in chicken broth and spices makes a great filling for homemade tacos!
INGREDIENTS
Servings: 10
Boneless pork shoulder roast
1 (4 lb)
Ground cumin
1 tsp
Crumbled dried oregano
1/2 tsp
Ground coriander
1/2 tsp
Bay leaves
2
Chicken broth
2 cups
Salt
1 tsp
Ground cinnamon
1/4 tsp
Garlic powder
1 tsp
DIRECTIONS
- In a bowl, mix salt, cumin, oregano, garlic powder, cinnamon, and coriander. Coat pork with the mixture.
- Put bay leaves in a slow cooker. Place the coated pork on top of the bay leaves. Carefully pour chicken broth around the pork.
- Cook the pork on Low for about 10 hours (until the meat shreds with a fork with ease). Turn after it has cooked for 5 hours!
- Remove the meat from slow cooker and shred it using forks. Enjoy your authentic Carnitas!
