INGREDIENTS
Servings: 6
Lean ground beef
1 lb.
Onion
½ cup, finely chopped
Green bell pepper
¼ cup, chopped
Canned tomatoes
1 (14.5 oz.) can
Water
1 cup
Long grain rice
¾ cup, uncooked
Chili sauce
½ cup
Salt
1 tsp.
Brown sugar
1 tsp.
Ground cumin
½ tsp.
Worcestershire sauce
½ tsp.
Ground black pepper
1 pinch
Cheddar cheese
½ cup, shredded
Fresh cilantro
2 tbsp., chopped
DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat the oven to 375° F/190° C/ Gas Mark 5.
  2. Cook the beef in a large skillet over a medium-high heat until brown. Drain fat and put the beef in a large pot.
  3. Simmer over a medium-low heat. Add the next eleven ingredients (from onion to black pepper) and stir the mixture well.
  4. Let it simmer for about half an hour stirring occasionally.
  5. Transfer the dish to a 2-quart casserole dish, press well, and sprinkle with cheese.
  6. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes and until the cheese melts.
  7. Garnish the bake with fresh cilantro.
