Beef and vegetables simmered in chili sauce with sugar and cumin is an easy no-fuss casserole variant for your family dinner!
INGREDIENTS

Lean ground beef
1 lb.
Onion
½ cup, finely chopped
Green bell pepper
¼ cup, chopped
Canned tomatoes
1 (14.5 oz.) can
Water
1 cup
Long grain rice
¾ cup, uncooked
Chili sauce
½ cup
Salt
1 tsp.
Brown sugar
1 tsp.
Ground cumin
½ tsp.
Worcestershire sauce
½ tsp.
Ground black pepper
1 pinch
Cheddar cheese
½ cup, shredded
Fresh cilantro
2 tbsp., chopped
DIRECTIONS
- Preheat the oven to 375° F/190° C/ Gas Mark 5.
- Cook the beef in a large skillet over a medium-high heat until brown. Drain fat and put the beef in a large pot.
- Simmer over a medium-low heat. Add the next eleven ingredients (from onion to black pepper) and stir the mixture well.
- Let it simmer for about half an hour stirring occasionally.
- Transfer the dish to a 2-quart casserole dish, press well, and sprinkle with cheese.
- Bake for 10 to 15 minutes and until the cheese melts.
- Garnish the bake with fresh cilantro.
