INGREDIENTS

Sugar
¾ cup
Milk
1 cup
Salt
¼ tsp.
Cocoa powder -  2 tbsp., unsweetened
3 egg yolks, lightly beaten
Semisweet chocolate
2 oz., chopped
Heavy cream
2 cups
Vanilla extract
1 tsp.
DIRECTIONS
  1. Add the first four ingredients (from sugar to cocoa powder) to a saucepan and heat them over a medium heat stirring continuously. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
  2. Place egg yolks in a small bowl and add about ½ cup of the warmed liquid, then return to the saucepan. Heat the mixture until it thickens but don’t boil.
  3. Remove from heat, add chocolate and stir the mixture until the chocolate melts.
  4. Chill a bowl, pour the mixture in it, and keep it in the fridge for about 2 hours.
  5. When the chocolate mixture has cooled, add the cream and vanilla.
  6. Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker and freeze it.
