Soaked in a sophisticated marinade, these black Bat Wings are a Halloween delight for the eye and the palate.
INGREDIENTS

Soy sauce
½ cup
Ginger
1 tbsp, grated
Sugar
1 tbsp
Chinese five-spice powder
1 tbsp
Sesame oil
1 tbsp
Sambal oelek (chili paste)
1 tbsp
Chicken wings
2 lb
Salt
to taste
Sichuan pepper
to taste
Hoisin sauce
¼ cup
Honey
¼ cup
Black sesame seeds
½ cup
DIRECTIONS
- In a large bowl, whisk all the ingredients from soy sauce to sambal oelek. Pour into a ziploc bag.
- Add chicken wings; marinate in the fridge for 1 to 4 hours.
- Pre-heat oven to 450°F/230°C/Gas Mark 8.
- Transfer wings to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Season with salt and Sichuan pepper. Bake until dark and crisp (about half an hour).
- Brush with hoisin sauce and honey, bake for 10 more minutes until shiny and sticky. Coat with black sesame seeds and serve.
