One of the most delicious potato recipes you’ve ever tried! Although not the easiest one, it’s surely worth the effort!
INGREDIENTS
Servings: 6
Potatoes
4 cups, thinly sliced
Butter
3 tbsp.
Flour
3 tbsp.
Milk
1 ½ cups
Salt
1 tsp.
Cayenne pepper
1 dash
Sharp cheddar cheese
1 cup, grated
Cheese
½ cup, grated, to sprinkle
DIRECTIONS
- Heat the oven to 350° F/177° C/Gas Mark 4.
- Prepare a small saucepan. Add butter and melt it. Add flour and stir until smooth. Let the mixture sit for a minute.
- Add milk and stir well using a whisk. Season with salt and cayenne pepper.
- Cook on low until it’s smooth and starts to boil. Stir occasionally with a whisk.
- Reduce the heat, add cheese, and stir well.
- Lightly grease a one-quart casserole dish and put half of the potatoes in it.
- Pour half of the sauce over the potatoes.
- Repeat the process with another potato layer and the sauce. Sprinkle with cheese, top with paprika, and bake for about 1 hour.
