Easy Sopapillas

INGREDIENTS
Servings: 12
All-purpose flour 
2 cups
Water 
3/4 cup
Vegetable oil 
2 cups
Baking powder 
2 tsps
Salt 
1 tsp
Shortening 
2 tbsps
DIRECTIONS
  1. Combine all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl. Add shortening. The mixture should look like coarse crumbs. Mix in water with your hands until the dough is smooth enough. Prepare a surface by flouring it and knead the dough. Cut the dough into 12 pieces and shape into balls. Cover. 
  2. In a deep fryer, heat oil to 375° F (190° C).
  3. Prepare a surface by flouring it and roll the dough into circles. Cut them into triangles. Fry until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Enjoy your Sopapillas!
