INGREDIENTS
Servings: 12
Milk
3/4 cup
Butter
2 tbsp.
Eggs
3
White sugar
1 1/2 cups
All-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups
Baking powder
1 1/2 tsp.
Vanilla extract
1 tsp.
DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat oven to 350° F/175° C/Gas Mark 4. Grease a cake pan.
  2. In a saucepan over medium-low heat, melt butter in milk, not allowing to boil.
  3. Using a mixer, in a large bowl beat the eggs until light and fluffy. Gradually add sugar to the eggs, mixing well after each addition. In a separate bowl, sift flour and baking powder and add the egg and sugar mixture. Stir in hot milk and butter. Beat only to combine. Stir in vanilla.
  4. Spoon the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 45 to 50 minutes. Allow the cake cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove the sponge cake from the pan and cool on a wire rack
