Grandma's Green Bean Casserole

Straightforward yet yummy vegetarian dish cooked in the oven. Creamy green beans with crunchy crackers and melted cheese are to die for!

INGREDIENTS
Servings: 2
Butter
 2 tbsp.
All-purpose flour
 2 tbsp.
Salt
 1 tsp.
White sugar
 1 tsp.
Onion
 1/4 cup, diced
Sour cream
 1 cup
French-style green beans
 3 cans (14.5 ounces), drained
Cheddar cheese
 2 cups, grated
Crumbled buttery round crackers
  1/2 cup
Butter
1 tbsp., melted 
DIRECTIONS
  1. Heat the oven to 350° F /175 °C/Gas Mark 5.
  2. In a large frying pan, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat. Add flour and stir it until smooth and without lumps and let cook for one minute. Add onion, sugar, salt and sour cream and stir well. Add the green beans, and stir to coat with the mixture.
  3. Place the mixture to a casserole dish. Sprinkle with the grated cheese. In a separate cup, mix remaining butter and cracker crumbs, and spread over the cheese.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes in the oven, or until the top is golden brown and cheese is melted and bubbly.
