INGREDIENTS
Servings: 12
All-purpose flour
3 cups
Baking powder
1 tbsp.
White sugar
1/3 cup
Salt
1 tsp.
Baking soda
1 tsp.
Egg
1, lightly beaten
Buttermilk
2 cups
Butter
¼ cup, melted
DIRECTIONS
  1. Heat the oven to 325° F/165° C/Gas Mark 3.
  2. Prepare and 9x5 loaf pan and grease it.
  3. Combine the first five ingredients (from flour to baking soda) in a medium-sized bowl.
  4. In a separate bowl, blend egg and buttermilk together and add the mixture to the flour mixture. Stir well until moistened, add butter, and pour the mixture into the pan.
  5. Bake for 65 to 70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center of the bread comes out clean.
  6. Cool on a wire rack, then wrap in foil and store for several hours or overnight before serving.
