Go patriotic with this unusual banana-flavored cherry pie! An unforgettable combination of cinnamon and almond extract won’t leave you and your close ones indifferent!
INGREDIENTS

1 baked pie crust (get the here)
Tart red cherries
1 (14 oz.) can, pitted (can be replaced by sweet cherries)
Sugar
1/3 cup + 1 tbsp.
Cornstarch
2 tbsp.
Butter
1 tsp.
Ground cinnamon
½ tsp.
Almond extract
1 tsp.
2 ½ medium bananas
Sweetened vanilla whipped cream
for serving, optional
DIRECTIONS
- Whisk together cornstarch and sugar in a medium-sized saucepan. Add cherries and their juices and stir to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a boil and keep boiling for 1 minute. Stir constantly.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and add butter and cinnamon, stirring.
- When the mixture is cooled, add almond extract.
- Put the banana slices in the pie crust and top it with the cherry mix.
- Chill for 3 hours or a bit less.
- Serve the pie with sweetened vanilla whipped cream.
