INGREDIENTS
Servings: 20
Butter 
1/2 cup
White sugar 
1 1/2 cups
Distilled white vinegar 
1 tbsp
All-purpose flour 
2 cups
Unsweetened cocoa powder 
1/3 cup
Salt 
1 tsp
Eggs 
Buttermilk 
1 cup
Red food coloring 
1 fluid oz
Vanilla extract 
1 tsp
Baking soda 
1 1/2 tsps
DIRECTIONS
  1. Preheat oven to 350° F (175° C).
  2. Grease two 12-cup muffin pans.
  3. Using an electric mixer, mix butter and sugar until fluffy in a large bowl. Add eggs, buttermilk, food coloring, vanilla extract,  baking soda, and vinegar.
  4. Mix flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Stir the mixture into the batter. Spoon the batter into the cups. 
  5. Bake for about 20 minutes (the tops of the muffins should spring back when pressed). Let the muffins cool in a pan set over a wire rack. After that, add the desired frosting.
