Servings: 4
Sesame oil
¼ cup
Lemon juice
¼ cup
Soy sauce
¼ cup
Brown sugar
2 tbsp., or to taste
Sesame seeds
1 tbsp.
Ground mustard
1 tsp.
Ground ginger
1 tsp.
Garlic powder
¼ tsp.
4 (6 oz.) steaks
  1. Combine all the ingredients but salmon (from sesame oil to garlic seeds) in a small saucepan and heat over a low heat.
  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer stirring continuously until the sugar dissolves. Keep ½ cup of marinade for basting.
  3. Prepare a resalable plastic bag and pour the rest of the marinade in it. Add salmon, squeeze air out of the bag, seal, and leave for at least 1 hour of 2 hours to marinate. Drain, dispose of the rest of the marinade.
  4. At 4 inches from the source, set the oven rack. Heat the broiler, place salmon in a pan, and broil for 5 minutes.
  5. Using a brush, cover steaks with the rest of the marinade, then turn over and cook for about 5 minutes or until the fish is opaque and easily flaked with a fork.
  6. Brush salmon steaks with the marinade one more time.
