There is nothing better than the buttery taste of a soft sugar cookie!
INGREDIENTS
Servings: 48
All-purpose flour
3 ¾ cups,
Baking powder
1 tsp
Salt
½ tsp
Margarine
1 cup, softened
White sugar
1 ½ cups
Eggs
2
Vanilla extract
2 tsps
DIRECTIONS
- In a large bowl, sift flour together with salt and baking powder.
- In another large bowl, beat margarine with sugar till creamy and light. Beat in eggs one by one, add vanilla, stir well. While still beating, add the dry ingredients in small batches until fully incorporated. Wrap in plastic wrap and let sit in the fridge for 2 hours.
- While preheating oven to 400°F/200°C/Gas Mark 6, line cookie sheets with paper parchment or use cooking spray. Lightly dust the working surface with flour, roll out the dough until ¼ inch thick. Use cookie cutters to cut out cookies or skip the rolling out, make dough balls the size of a walnut and flatten them with the palm of your hand.
- Bake till the edges just start browning (6 to 8 minutes). Transfer to wire racks to cool completely. Decorate as desired.
