Southern Collard Greens

INGREDIENTS
Servings: 6
Olive oil
1 tbsp.
Bacon
3 slices
1 large onion, diced
Garlic
2 cloves, minced
Salt
1 tsp.
Freshly ground black pepper
1 tsp.
Chicken broth
3 cups
Red pepper flakes
1 pinch
Fresh collard greens
1 lb., roughly chopped
DIRECTIONS
  1. Add oil to a large pot, let heat over medium-high heat.
  2. Fry bacon in oil until crisp. Remove from the pot, crumble; transfer back in to the pot.
  3. Add onions, cook until translucent (5 minutes). Stir in garlic until fragrant.
  4. Add chopped collard greens and stir until wilted.
  5. Add chicken broth, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Cook on low for 45 minutes.
