INGREDIENTS

Butter
1 ½ cups, softened
White sugar
2 cups
Eggs
4
Vanilla extract
1 tsp.
All-purpose flour
5 cups
Baking powder
2 tsp.
Salt
1 tsp.
DIRECTIONS
  1. Heat the oven to 400° F/200° C/Gas Mark 6.
  2. Add butter and sugar to a large bowl and cream together until smooth. Beat in eggs and vanilla.
  3. Add all the remaining ingredients, stir well, cover, and keep the dough in the fridge for not less than 1 hour or overnight.
  4. Roll out the dough on floured surface to ¼ to ½ inch thick. Use a heart-shaped cookie cutter (or a cutter of any other form) to cut the rolled dough into shapes.
  5. Place cookies on ungreased cookie sheets about 1 inch apart and bake for 6 to 8 minutes. Cool and top with icing.
