INGREDIENTS
Servings: 6
Olive oil
3 tbsp.
Onion
1, finely chopped
Garlic
6 cloves, minced
Green chili peppers
5, sliced finely
Ginger paste
1 tsp.
Whole cardamom seeds
3
Whole cloves
2
Cinnamon sticks
1 1/2, about 2 inches each
Ground cumin
1 tsp.
Ground coriander
1 tsp.
Ground turmeric
1 tsp.
Garlic powder
1 tsp.
Cayenne pepper
1 tsp.
Water
1 cup
Beef chuck
2 pounds, cut into 1 ½ inch pieces
DIRECTIONS
  1. Heat the oil in a skillet over a medium heat. Add onion. Cook stirring until the onion has softened and is translucent, or for about 5 min. Reduce heat to a medium-low and continue cooking until the onion is very tender and turns brown, or for about 15 minutes.
  2. Add the next six ingredients (from garlic to cinnamon) and continue cooking until garlic starts to brown, for about 3 to 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the next six ingredients (from cumin to water) into the onion mixture. Let it simmer until the major part of the water evaporates and the mixture becomes thick.
  4. Add the beef pieces and stir them until coated with the spicy mixture. Simmer the beef curry over a medium-low heat stirring occasionally for about 1 to 1 ½ hours, until the beef is well cooked.
