A fresher alternative to the well-known cranberry sauce - easy and delectable!
INGREDIENTS
Servings: 16
White sugar
2 cups
Ground cloves
½ tsp.
Ground allspice
½ tsp.
Ground cinnamon
1 tsp.
Salt
½ tsp.
Water
2 cups
Quinces
1 lb., peeled, cored, diced
1 orange, zested (optional)
Orange juice
½ cup
White wine vinegar
2 tbsp.
Cranberries
3 cups, fresh or frozen
DIRECTIONS
- Combine the first five ingredients (from sugar to salt) in a large saucepan and mix well.
- Add water, stirring, bring the mixture to a boil over a high heat and stir until all the sugar dissolves.
- Add the dices quinces and reduce the heat to low.
- Cook stirring for about 4 to 5 minutes or until quince turns rose-colored.
- Stir in all the remaining ingredients (from orange zest to cranberries), bring to a boil over a high heat, and reduce the heat to medium-low.
- Cook for about 20 minutes or until cranberries burst and the sauce thickens. Cool before you serve it.
