INGREDIENTS
Servings: 60
Butter
1 cup, softened
Confectioners' sugar
1 cup
Egg
1
Salt
1 tsp
Almonds
3/4 cup
Almond extract
1 tsp
Vanilla extract
1 tsp
All-purpose flour
2 2/3 cups
Baking powder
1 tsp
Red decorating gel
1 (.75 oz) tube (optional)
DIRECTIONS
- In a bowl, combine softened butter, almond extract, confectioners' sugar, egg, and vanilla. Using an electric mixer, beat the ingredients together. Continually beating, add all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Refrigerate 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 325° F (160° C/Gas mark 3). Prepare baking sheets by greasing them.
- Scoop 1 tsp dough at a time onto waxed paper. Roll into a finger-shaped cookie, using the waxed paper. To make fingernails, press 1 nut into one end of each cookie. To make knuckles, squeeze near the tip and near the center. Place the cookies on the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 20 minutes, until golden.
- Then, remove the nuts from the cookies. Add some decorating gel into the cavities. Put the nuts back. Store in an airtight container at room temperature. Enjoy your Witches' Fingers cookies!
- Note: You can substitute red decorating gel with melted chocolate. Melt ½ cup chocolate chips with 1 tsp shortening, apply a bit of the chocolate to the fingernails, and then attach almonds to the chocolate.
